Well, our 1st away game and one that i would expect to have lost had it been later in the season. Everton are known slow starters and therefore this was the ideal opportunity to catch them out. Coupled with Bill Kenwright's revelations on friday that the club has no money and cannot compete this year, the bells should have rang to have some of the 6/1 available for QPR to win this game.
I had settled down for the day to watch the horse racing followed by an attempt to watch the game live on the pC on one of the live streams, sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. if it didnt i would have Sky Sports Soccer Saturday for company.
I found a decent feed and watched the game on my netbook, a small picture but enough to see the game and sound also to hear the R's fans singing throughout the match.
My dad was on the phoen throughout and he managed to get the feed also which was handy so he could watch it. We started with a 4-5-1 formation following the suspensions, injuries and illness we have endured in just the 1st week of the prem!
Agy was up front on his own however he can play that position and i was hoping that Adel would support him. the large pitch possibly didnt suit Adel's game and he is not yet fully 100% fit from what i can see. After about 20 mins, we settled down and i liked the 1 touch football we started to play in midfield, along with the chants of 'Ole as we held the ball for 20-30 touches at times!
This led to our goal, a decent pass by Buzz into Smithy who tucked in a curled finish from about 14 yards out. Howard had no chance with the shot and i knew it would be backs against the wall after this.
Everton huffed and puffed but Kenny was solid in goal and kept out any chances they had, the best falling to Cahill in the 1st half when he missed with a diving header from 3 yards out.
The feeling at HT speaking to my dad was that we were doing Ok but Everton would get stronger etc therefore we need to sustain the same level in the 2nd half. Le Tiss on Sky Sports Sover Saturday was very negative about Rangers play and felt that Everton were the better side and that they would pick up in the 2nd half. What Le Tiss hadnt taken into account was the fact we were matching them for possession.
2nd half and i was expecting the kitchen sink which we duly got however we weathered the storm and came through with the 0:1 result. Reactions appeared to be that Everton had been poor in breaking us down and perhaps we didnt get the credit we deserved for the victory.
On the final whistle, i rang Graham and the sound of Yeaaaaaaaaaaasssss, was the first words we exchanged. Warnock had done it again, he had gone away from home and got a result with a clean sheet, like last year where we had 10 away wins with 9 clean sheets.
All in all, a very good day and also praise on MOTD from Lineker, Hansen etc !!!
The league table made good reading also with the R's in the top ten .

Game 1 vs Bolton (Home)
Personally i was flying back from Portugal and therefore missed the 1st game of the season which gave the opportunity for my brother to take my nephew along.
Prices have gone up for the same matchday experience and personally i feel £50 for a Cat B game is far too much. it was £30 last season for every game. The ST works out at £40 a game, so well worth it in those terms.
Bolton fans voted with their feet as will the majority of the travelling fans unless they have a massive london following. Havent checked the official yet but it looked like about 700 away fans, however they had to pay £50 to sit in the worst stand in the ground.
I've taken in some match reports and seen the highlights. Our match plan had to change after 3 mins when Kieran Dyer was stretchered off in agony (no surprise there!), however it is our defence that gives us the most concern with Fitz Hall picked to partner Danny Gabbidon in the centre of defence. Hall was 3rd choice last year "! and the other 2 defenders are still at the club so not sure why Warnock thinks that Hall will be good enough. The 2 full backs Orr and Hill are simply not Premier class and we must replace both with faster players, i would love to see Kyle Walker return on loan from Spurs.
The forward line is ok but perhaps a better wide player than Tommy Smith is required. That leaves the midfield and after being linked with Bowyer and Bulard, we are stuck with Derry who had a blinding season last year when we were promoted but again is not premier class and needs to be replaced. it could be that Bullard may still end up at the club, i am not sure.
The sale of the club is possibly imminent and hopefully will go through soon, i hope mittal will still be involved with Tony fernandez and we can move on.
Next Saturday Everton away!!

Our first friendly
Hardly inspiring winning 1-0 at Harrow Borough last night but the team got a decent run out ahead of the pre season trip to Cornwall this week.
